north beaches' art walk

Just when you think you really don't like something anymore and there is no good left, you find your way to the the North Beaches' Art Walk. Well, that's what happened to me anyway.

I have felt so very uninspired in Jacksonville lately . . . until tonight. Tonight I decided to stop by one of the local shops that carries my stationery, First Street Gallery. (By the way, they are a wonderful little shop with the greatest women working there. If you have the chance you should stop by! www.firststreetgalleryart.com) On my way there I welcomed by live music, food, drinks and people everywhere. I had found my way to the monthly North Beaches' Art Walk. Apparently every 3rd Thursday of the month Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach hold an Art Walk. All the local shops are open while independent artists are spread out along the streets. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in Jax. All I could think was "why didn't I know about this?!?" and "how do I get involved?!?" I plan to get some more custom pieces ready for next months event.

My quick visit to the shop turned into a very relaxing 2 hour stroll through the streets of the beaches. It was a great evening and just what I needed to again be inspired by these beautiful beaches I have come to call home.

now that's culture!

I often find myself truly missing the culture that New Orleans and Louisiana has to offer. I was reminded of that recently when a friend of mine from New Orleans introduced me to an amazingly talented jewelry designer. Her pieces are each one-of-a-kind and use items such as vintage glass beads, lockets, brooches and textiles.  www.dejarnettenola.com

i heart paper . . . and i'm not the only one!

I seriously love paper. I mean, I could just sit around marveling at stationery ALL day EVERY day. So when I find a unique, modern, culture-driven shop that also loves paper, it motivates me to keep on keepin' on. This beautiful little shop on Magazine Street does just that. Scriptura has beautiful New Orleans style notepads, stationery and invitations. Here are a few of my favorites. They are all wonderful though. For those of you who don't have the luxury of taking a stroll down Magazine Street, visit them online to see more. www.scriptura.com
