inspiring others

I was honored recently to be the topic of "Invitation Inspiration" on a Wedding Blog, Adam-N-Andi Get Hitched. Andi is a blogging mommy as well as a work-at-home web designer. I feel particularly honored that I have inspired her since she herself is a designer! She is a great writer, and I truly enjoy following both her blog and on twitter. You can read her post below.

Thanks again Andi!

I still haven’t decided what to do about my invites, but I was recommended to visit Ms. Erin Vince, at Evince Design.   Her work is gorgeous, btw. If I was going the ‘custom wedding invitation‘ route, she’d be my first phone call.

You know, I can make a pretty picture but true graphic artists of the print variety know how to handle paper.  They know the ins and outs of printing methods, ink colors and saturations, die cuts and folds.  I really think it’s just as technologically complex as web design, when you step beyond the Vistaprint’s and Moo’s of the world.

And that’s what I’m worried about.  I think I’ll design something nice; something cool and decently reminiscent of our own style – but I won’t have that awesome creativity that comes with complete immersion in the paper world.
Adam suggested we do evites.  Seriously.

There are some things I won’t do digitally.

Anywho, Erin is unbelievably creative.  Each piece of the stationery package is individually designed/cut/folded (as you can see in the pic) – and she knows how to work within a budget (or totally blow one if you’re able with sweet letterpress printing).  If I had a spare $800 lying around, some sweet custom invites from Evince Design would be at the top of my list  (hercustom baby announcements are pretty damn cute, too).
